Signal person and rigger level 1 certification testing will take place at the union hall January 14th through 18th 2012. After completion of the NEIEP online training via the student gateway, a written and practical exam will be administered. Please contact me at 253-926-5550 or 206-830-8125 to schedule a time to come in and test. Those local 19 members who would like to be part of the welding training that starts the third week of January, must complete the on line training to be part of laboratory training. Continuing education courses on the NEIEP web site are part of your education benefit, and I would encourage all members to be proactive in redeeming that benefit. Our value as Elevator Constructors increases with every certification we obtain. All mechanics who would like to be part of the classroom experience as opposed to on line training to renew their mechanics license have the option, Testing of Traction and Hydraulic Elevators is a 16 hour class that spans 4 weeks. This CE class has been approved by Washington State for License renewal. Several Mechanics have completed this course and all have spoken about how informative and helpful it has been in conjunction with their everyday duties. I would also like to extend warm wishes for a happy and safe holiday season to all families in this great local. Fraternally,

Greetings to all Local 19 members across the Largest Local (geographicaly) in the Nation. Although we are spread out across six states we must never forget that we are united as one local. Our Union meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM at the Seattle Labor Temple, 2800 1st Ave, Seattle. That is where our business is conducted, and I would encourage all members who live and work in the Seattle/Tacoma metro areas to attend the meetings and be part of the decision making proccess. Those members who live to far away to attend the meetings should not feel like they are not part of the decision making proccess, I would encourage those members to use this website and guestbook to convey their interests and opinions. We can connect via e-mail and text message almost instantly, so why not give it a try? I enjoy being part of this great organization, and I look forward to hearing from my Local 19 Brothers and Sisters, either in person or electronically. Fraternally, Scott McGinty.
